Weekend Moments: Fall colours, northern style.

Fall is at it's peak right now in the north.
I know it's early, but that's the north for you. Winter is lurking right around the corner.

But right now, it is BEAUTIFUL!

Maple trees don't grow up here, so our "fall colours" are quite different than the ones I grew up with. Most of the trees are evergreens, so it's mainly the bushes and shrubs that change colour in autumn.
But still, the typically dull and unvaried landscape transforms into fiery blaze. I love September!

We drove down to the bay this weekend to pick more wild cranberries,
and to have a little autumn picnic by the sea.

But it was coooooooold! SO cold!
I could barely pick berries because my fingers were numb and dysfunctional in that frozen kind of way. But we brought hot chai tea and yummy snacks, so that helped a bit ;)

On Friday night we had a lovely dinner party.... You know the kind with sweet, smiling faces, lots of wine, and extra lots of cheese. Just the way I like it ;)

^^ I've made these cheese balls several times for dinner parties and they're always a hit ^^

And for dessert, a tarte tatin with salted butter caramel. Oh the tastes of fall!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

I am kind of jealous ! The taiga on the rocks looks beautiful. Have a great, cozy fall down there.

Wow, wow, wow. Beautiful fall colours up there. I love that you can go cranberry picking--good call on chai to warm up those digits! Enjoy your trip back home!:)
