What do you think of this idea of painting an ombre wall in your home?
It looks absolutely gorgeous in these photos (from the West Elm June catalog),
but I wonder if it would look dated rather quickly and then you'd be sick of it?
But still... how dreamy does that fading blue wall look against this dark charcoal sofa...

reminds me of when i used to lazure paint the childrens bedroom walls. I love it
I like the idea of protecting your walls by painting them a darker shade particularly in the line where you might lean a chair or have pets putting their muddy little paws on. I was thinking about colouring the third of the wall bottom up with something more resistant, but I feared it would look too much like a school or hospital hall. The ombre version would make it look much warmer and dynamic, and solve the problem of protecting the wall of getting dirty as well.
With darker colours you might find it difficult to paint over them with something lighter, so my suggestion would be to first try with a lighter blue, and see how you like it. You can then always paint over it, or make it darker whilst building up colours on your ombre wall.
