I've been feeling rather homesick lately. I guess I'm still adjusting to my new life up north. And for the most part it's exciting and enriching, and I feel grateful for this incredible opportunity.
But tonight, I'm feeling so far away from all my friends and family.
We saw the northern light last night. Beautiful.
It's hard to believe that we're all still underneath the same old sky.
Knowing that somehow helps.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, wherever you are.
(ps: do you like my little watercolour?)
I love your little water colour! Inspired by your beautiful surroundings I am sure.
ReplyDeleteYou are on such a brave adventure - I don't know that I would have the courage...I am sure that the people there are happy to have such a special 'couple' of doctors caring for them.
xoxo
I love your watercolor. Would you be interested in selling me an original piece?

I so love it, particularly the light emanating
ReplyDeletefrom the teepee. Astrid
The water color is beautiful! This post reminds of An American Tail. I loved that movie when I was younger and the scene with Fievel and his sister sing Somewhere Out There. There's a very sweet lyric similar to this post: "And even though I know how very far apart we are, it helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star. And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby, it helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky."
ReplyDeleteThat song always made me cry!!
ReplyDeleteStephanie: oh I forgot about that song - I love it too, and I definitely cried during that part as well!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth: thank you for the sweet comment and your words of encouragement.
Amanda: Painting is just something I do for fun, and I hardly ever find time to actually do it. But that's very flattering : )
the home teepee just glows...a sure sign of good things ahead...the north has so much to offer...it just takes a while to get hold of you.....then you are hooked on northern lights and scraggy trees....
ReplyDeleteIf you ever need someone to chat with, I understand! I'm in Aus, my family are all in the Middle East, Europe and the US :)
ReplyDeleteVan, your painting is gorgeous! You are so crazy talented:) Lots of love - can't wait to see you!
