Spring Decorating Ideas to Refresh Your Space

Yesterday was officially the first day of spring, and today in Montreal we are expecting a snowstorm.
I am so sick of winter!
I've been feeling the need to redecorate my apartment for spring... I figure if I prepare for spring, it will inevitably arrive sooner. So I've been looking for ideas on how to brighten-up and refresh my space... here's what I've come up with so far....

Number 1. Of course the most obvious way to bring spring into your home is with fresh flowers...

Or make your own flowers with tissue paper, like Martha does : )

Number 2. Add in some green.... whether it's a fresh coat of paint, a print on the wall, or some new throw pillows... green is the quintessential colour of spring!

Number 3. Use old household items in new ways.... like vintage teacups as beautiful mini vases...

Or use egg cups (isn't that adorable?)

Number 4. Make sure to let the new light in.... take down or open up those dark curtains, rearrange your furniture,  and use fun patterns to liven up a room...

Number 5. Breathe some life (and oxygen) into your home by starting your herb garden on an indoor windowsill.
And when it gets a little warmer, plant your real garden... on your balcony or in your yard, or whatever green space you create for yourself (everybody needs one, get into a community garden if you don't have your own).
(via Ikea)
Here is my balcony garden from last year...

Number 6. And finally, change your linens. A bright floral table cloth or bed spread can really bring on the spring vibe

Well that's all I can come up with for now. I guess there's always spring cleaning.... maybe on another day!
Do you like to change things up in your home for Spring?

great ideas. I am preparing to make few cushions out of old pillows and repaint handles on drawers in mint green. Green always brings a spring, as you said!

I agree...a little green and some flowers really pick me up. I'll try the spring tablecloth too....It is still winter here and it's too dreary to be out in it.....

I am so sick of winter, too. I threw some orange and white art deco type pillows on the bed in my guest room 2 weeks ago and keep finding myself in there staring at them. I feel like winter will not bugger off!! It's been raining and pouring for 3 days. So much wind and cold. Sucky about that snow, too. Ugh!!

Okay let's go get some pillows and flowers or something to cheer up :)

I adore your balcony garden. Im planning to plant some herbs this year too. I cant wait! Also, love all the spring ideas. I just got some fresh flowers this morning and I love the idea of adding some green into the home decor. Thanks, sweetie
Have a great Monday

Oh, I LOVE the green & white bedroom. Ours is brown & tan... pretty boring in comparison! It's actually almost 60 in Chicago today, so I'm trying to soak it up before the temp drops again tomorrow.

So much inspiration. It's obvious you took a lot of time to put this post together and I really like it. I got some fresh flowers this weekend, but now I want to get some more patterns and green things going on! Those tiny bouquets are too cute!!
